The Merge Maxx 300 was one of my first major design projects. I grew up on a hay farm in Saskatchewan, so hay tools were something I knew a lot about. One other engineer and I developed this design from the ground up. It was the first merger developed by Kuhn as they began to enter the hay market in America. Kuhn / Knight already had a long history of feed mixers and manure spreaders, but hay tools were a new segment. This first 9 foot merger paved the way for the 24', 30' and 36' machines that came after. I learned a lot about hydraulics, metal fatigue, vibration, and welding from the the early prototypes of the MM300.
